Welcome
to the Alabama Learning Exchange (ALEX) tutorial!
This tutorial
allows you to learn how to use ALEX, an information portal that provides
insightful information such as lesson plans and opportunities for professional
development. We hope that this tutorial will help you to use ALEX to its
fullest extent.

An ALEX login allows you to have your own personal workspace and to create
lesson plans.
Here is the
procedure for registration.
1. Direct
your browser to http://alex.state.al.us.
2. Click
on the "Login" button. Completing this action will direct your
browser to another screen where you will see this:

Click on the "Create New Account" link. After this action, you
will see fields that look like this:
4. Fill in the fields.
After completing the fields, click on the "Create Account" button.
You will see a dialogue box like this:

5. To immediately
activate your account you must be able to check your email account after
you have created your username and password.
Check the inbox of the email address that you used to register.
You will receive a confirmation email that will instruct you to click
on a link that will activate and update your account. You will not be
able to login until you do so. Click the link provided in the email message.
The following screen will appear:
To select your school system, click the drop down arrow to make your selection.
Once you have chosen your system, another field will appear. Again, click
the drop down arrow to select your particular school. Once you have completed
these two actions, click the "Update Account" button.
6. This message
will appear:
You are officially registered! At this point, you can click on the "Home"
link located on the left side of your screen. You can use all of the features
offered by ALEX. You can also click on the ALEX title image on any page
and it will return you to ALEX's home page.
Once you have logged in, please click on "Personal Workspace".
This is where your personal lesson plans and bookmarks are stored and
lesson plans are created.
Now,
click on the links at the top of this page to learn more about ALEX!
Notice that when you login, the word "login" changes to "logout"
indicating that you are logged in.
Please make
sure that you logout at the end of your work session if you are using
a computer that is accessed by other people.
