HOW Proposal General Information

Hands-on Workshops

AETC 2013 will feature almost 70 hands-on workshops presented by educators and vendors, and aligned with the NETS for Students (See Strands).

Deadlines and Criteria

The deadline to submit an application to present a three-hour hands-on workshop is December 31, 2012. Applications must be made online. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Notification of application status will be mailed to the Main presenter. The conference program committee carefully reviews all submissions. Selection criteria are designed to ensure that the workshops will be of high quality, will be of interest to conference attendees (primarily Alabama K-12 teachers, administrators, and support staff), will include a strong hands-on component, and will effectively use the entire block of time.

Registration for Presenters

AETC will provide one complimentary conference registration per workshop. The person listed on the Application to Present as the Main presenter will receive the complimentary registration. If you choose to have a copresenter, they will be registered as the facilitator for your workshop and will receive a complimentary facilitator registration. A workshop may be presented by any number of people; however, only the first two presenters will be identified on the AETC website and listed in the printed conference program.

Vendors
All vendor presenters must be registered exhibitors at AETC. These workshops are not "infomercials," but are intended to offer valuable information to attendees, who pay extra fees for workshops. All vendor presentations are labeled as such in the program. Approximately 15 percent of AETC workshops and concurrent sessions are presented by vendors representing technology-related products and services from either a "technical" or "instructional" perspective.

Handouts
Workshop presenters may provide detailed handouts of all information discussed in the workshop. Handouts are the responsibility of the presenter. Presenters are also strongly encouraged to provide all presentation resources ELECTRONICALLY.

Equipment and Software

AETC will provide these items in each workshop room: Computer workstations with Internet connectivity for 30 participants and for the presenter, digital projector, screen, and sound capabilities. All other equipment, including additional computers, peripherals, cords, and carts, will be the presenter's responsibility. The Microsoft Office suite will be available in most workshop labs. Presenters can contact Cheri Hayes at chayes@alsde.edu with additional questions.

Schedule

Please note that workshops are scheduled before the Conference on Tuesday and during the Conference on Wednesday and Thursday. A proposal could be accepted for any one of these three days.
