Description: In Dr. Seuss’ first published children’s book, And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, Marco, inspired by the passing of a horse and wagon, imagines a series of increasingly incredible sights on his way home from school. This story provides a springboard for discussing the concepts of honesty, imagination, and creativity and for exploring the difference between dishonesty and creativity. Students will learn to recognize when it is appropriate to weave an elaborate tale and when it is not.

Title: The Diary of Anne Frank: How Would I Survive?
Description: After reading the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, The Diary of Anne Frank, by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, student groups examine the coping strategies of the people in the Secret Annex. Then, each student develops a personal survival plan to be included in a group slideshow presentation which addresses this question: How would I survive if I experienced the same stressful situation? Additionally, the students discuss current world situations that necessitate coping strategies.

A student's perspective toward bullying sets the tone as the podcast begins. Dr. Jackie Hester narrates during the podcast and gives strategic tips for administrators. A fictional classroom drama depicts a potential scenario if bullying is not addressed.

A book review on Evermore by Alyson Noel
Overview:
Alyson Noel’s Evermore will keep you interested to the very end. Noel’s writing flows beautifully throughout the novel. She creates characters that are in very unrealistic situations yet have very real personalities. The main character, Ever, has psychic powers. Noel builds up these powers throughout the book. Noel manages to get them to make sense and stick to their own logic throughout the book. Ever’s powers make her both a strong character, but also a vulnerable one. Throughout Evermore, Alyson Noel keeps the reader’s full attention with beautiful writing and complex, interesting characters.

Overview:

How Would You Feel? A Public Service Announcement about Bullying
Overview:
There are three types of students in American schools today; bullies, victims, and bystanders. Each type of student is uniquely affected by the violence and cruelty perpetrated by bullies on their helpless victims. In this video podcast, students share the characteristics of both bullies and victims and explore ways in which all students can help stop the abuse. The theme of the video podcast is "How Would You Feel", and is designed to evoke an emotional appeal that will hopefully help all three types of students break free from the cycle of violence that is so prevalent in middle schools and high schools. The podcast ends with ways that students can help stop bullying.
