Title: So You Want to Be President? Let's Elect a President: A Classroom Election Wiki Project
Description: This project-based learning project extends classroom learning with a variety of multimedia tools to conduct an engaging election campaign for the Presidency. Students form political parties, write a platform, and conduct a campaign for the Presidency. Party platforms are presented to the class and embedded on a election wiki where each party has its own campaign page for their candidate. Parties use a variety of web tools to conduct the multimedia online campaign and create their candidate's web page. The project concludes with the election of one of the candidates.

Title: The Impact of Political Debates in the Television Age
Description: This technology-based lesson encourages active engagement in the state elections process as part of a unit to prepare for debates to be held in the Fall of 2010. The lesson may also be adapted for use as a stand alone lesson. Student groups research television debates from 1960-2008 and collaborate on a wiki to present an overview of each debate and analyze the impact of these political debates on elections. Other lessons in this unit are Why Vote?, How Do You Vote:What Do You Need to Know to Vote in Alabama?, and Analyzing Gubernatorial Debates: The 2010 Election.

Title: Presidential Election Partners - Deciding on a Candidate Through an Online Discussion with the Community
Description: As a presidential election approaches, have students recruit an adult "election partner" to discuss and debate candidate selection and important issues related to the campaign. Becoming an active participant in the civic process takes practice. Students will have the opportunity to practice for future participation in presidential elections with the help of an election partner.

Title: Elephant or Donkey? Examining the Republican or Democratic Party Platform
Description: Students will visit the websites for the National Republican and National Democratic Party. Students will choose topics of interest to them and compare the positions of both parties on the topic. Students will complete a graphic organizer to take notes on the party position and then use those notes to write about which party's position they personally most closely align.

Title: The Role and Function of the Conference Committee in the Legislative Process
Description: Students will use C-SPAN to observe short film clips of a Congressional conference committee in action. Students will hear the rules under which the committee functions and hear debate regarding aspects of the bill. Finally, students will read the House and Senate versions of the bill currently in conference, seek differences in the bills passed in both houses and recommend a compromise proposal to resolve one of the differences.

Title: Xpedition Hall
Description: Built around the National Geography Standards, Xpedition Hall is a virtual museum that is filled with interactive exhibits designed to provoke reflection on how human beings shape and are shaped by the world in which we live. The Hall contains one exhibit for each of standard, and groups these exhibits into six galleries, which correspond to the standards six underlying '' elements.'' Students use can use an image or map of the Hall to navigate through the exhibits.
