As students read information about genetically modified foods, they are asked whether or not they think we should grow GM crops. Their answer choice will open up a new reading section to challenge their view. Again, they will be asked their opinion. This process is repeated a few times until they are asked for their final opinion. A writing component could be added, having students state and justify their opinion at each step, and then write a final argumentative essay defending their stance. A class debate could also be used as an assessment tool.
