Description: Biology students in this technology-based project will explain the significance of major characteristics used for classification in the kingdom Animalia. Students will then create a video Podcast explaining how their characteristic is beneficial to the animal and illustrated by the animals they found.

Description: This lesson is virtual dissection of Owl Pellets. This interactive website gives the option of dissecting pellets from many kinds of owls. This would be great to use before actually dissecting, because it would help student learn to identify the bones before the actual dissection. This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science University, GEMS-U Project.

All About Animal Skeletons
Overview:
This Podcast is sample of a student-generated project that describes the basic characteristics of the Kingdom Animalia. Students are placed in cooperative groups and assigned one of the basic characteristics of the kingdom. (Skeletal, reproductive, method of fertilization, body symmetry,body coverings and locomotion) Students then research their characteristic and use digital cameras to collect pictures of animals that represent these traits. Students can also collect pictures from the Internet to complete missing representatives. Cooperative groups then work together to create a Podcast.
