Title: American Symbols All Around Us
Description: In this lesson, the students will learn how symbols stand for, or represent, something else. They will learn about national symbols and how they are unique to our country. They will complete a student created symbol booklet and read fiction books to further their understanding about symbols. They will also work on writing skills through various writing activities.

Title: Where Did My Sunflowers Van Gogh?
Description: Students will read about the life of Vincent Van Gogh and observe how the events of his life shaped his art. Students will view various works by the artist and evaluate the changes in them. Students will then create a still life sunflower portrait interpretation based on the works of Vincent Van Gogh.

Description: Over this three-week unit, students will learn basic concepts about weather and the part it plays in their everyday lives. Students will make a slideshow presentation that summarizes the content presented about seasons and things in the sky. Also, students will make a flyer that summarizes the content presented about severe weather and severe weather safety. Finally, students will keep a daily log of local weather and put this information into a website.

Title: Transformation Creations
Description: The students will use critical thinking skills and artistic abilities to "transform" an image into something completely different. The original images can be taken with a digital camera and printed out or cut from old magazines.
Art Pad is a virtual online painting tool. It also records the student's brush as he/she is painting, so that the process can be played back.
Draw a Stickman
Students will use this tool to learn to follow directions and create digital illustration.
How to Draw a Fall Tree
Step-by-step instuctions for drawing a fall tree. Students start with the letter "Y" as the trunk. Students will realize trees are a series of branches.
