It is a stand-alone lesson that can be extended on when discussing other Pop Artists, or as an introduction to new media types within the art classroom.

Title: Cells! Cells! Cells!
Description: Students will learn about both POP Art and science in this pattern project. Working in conjunction with a science teacher in your school, students will view cells through a microscope and use visual diaries to create pattern templates. Templates are then used in simple and bold coloration to implement a POP inspired work of art.

Description: This lesson will introduce students to several prominent painters in art history. Students will research selected artists in groups and create PowerPoint presentations. This site provides instructions and shows examples of masks made from milk jugs. By using instructions from this site, students can make their own Greek tragedy masks depicting a character from Antigone. This interpretive mask would be a way for students to demonstrate their understanding of the text.
