Title: Have You Seen My Mother?
Description: This lesson will introduce the sense of smell. It will show how an animal, such as a bat, finds its baby by using the sense of smell. Students will have the opportunity to view information on the Internet to learn more about bats. They will also participate in a hands-on activity to experience how a mother bats locates her baby.

Title: What Is The Main Idea?
Description: During this lesson students begin to identify the main idea of a story they read or hear. Students use graphic organizers to discover the main idea of The Carrot Seed, by Ruth Krauss, and Marsupial Sue, by John Lithgow.

Title: Flutter By, Butterfly!
Description: This technology-based lesson will teach students the basic characteristics of different types of butterflies. It should be presented after a unit about the life cycle and habitat of butterflies. Students will use approved Internet sites to locate illustrations and facts about various species of butterflies. Students will work together and with teacher assistance to create a slideshow presentation that combines all of the species of butterflies the students locate.

Title: What Will I Wear to School Today?
Description: Hot, cold, windy, or snowing, students need to know how to dress appropriately. In this lesson, students will learn how weather affects what they wear to school each day. Students will practice choosing the appropriate clothing by using computer software that allows students to dress different people.

Title: My Computer Alphabet Book
Description: During this lesson, students will use the computer to make an alphabet book using word processing software. Students will demonstrate their ability to list pictures with the same beginning sound as the letters of the alphabet and learn how to insert clip art and type words in a document.

Title: My Favorite Time of Day
Description: This is a hands-on mathematics lesson for telling time to the hour. Students will use individual clocks with partners for guided practice. The assessment will be a writing/drawing activity incorporating the use of a computer for word processing purposes.

Title: Class Portrait: An Anthology In Words and Pictures
Description: Students will use a digital camera and word processor to produce an illustrated anthology of original poetry.

Title: Luscious Layers of Life...A Walk Through the Rainforest
Description: This lesson provides students with an opportunity to learn about the animals and plant life that live in the various layers of the tropical rainforest. Students will view a slideshow with many different facts and pictures of the rainforest. They will also research animals and plants of the rainforest by searching Internet sites. Students will also share what they learn through an typed report.

Title: Fifty States Project
Description: Students will follow simple research steps in the school media center and on the Internet to complete a poster on an assigned state by identifying the state's symbols and agricultural products.

Description: Primary and secondary colors are important concepts for young children to master. This lesson explores this concept using a variety of technology.

Description: In this lesson students will practice adding, subtracting, and multiplying without regrouping using a hundred blocks board. Students will be given opportunities to identify and discuss different patterns that they discover and relate number patterns to visual patterns.

Title: Leo Lionni’s Little Blue and Little Yellow
Description: Students will use Leo Lionni’s literature and his website to learn about the author, mix primary colors, summarize and rewrite a story, and use graphing skills to determine the classes’ favorite color.

Title: Three Awesome Bears
Description: The lesson will be implemented during a study of bears. Books, class discussions, and the Internet will be used to learn about bears and their characteristics. Black, brown, and polar bears will be categorized according to their food and their habitat. As a culminating activity the students will use "Kidspiration" software to match bears with their habitat and food.

This podcast can be used by either technology teachers or Civics teachers. Technology teachers can use it to teach the use and possibilities of the new technologies. The civics teacher can use it to open up discussion on laws and regulations involving those same technologies; as well as the history of recorded music up to today. The podcast uses hip, cutting edge references to the internet and its associated uses, so kids will "get" it, but it also contains information that parents can use to help them understand their child's use of the internet.
