Title: Find it Fast with Boolean Operators

Digital Tool Description: www.makebeliefscomix.com is a quick and easy-to-use comic strip creator. No login is required. Students may choose from a variety of characters and poses, backgrounds, and thought/word balloons to get across the message.
This exercise will be done prior to beginning a Standard-based lesson that requires Internet research.. Students will create a comic strip explaining how Boolean operators will increase search efficiency.
The teacher will provide four scenarios (project on screen, or write on board) where Boolean operators would enhance research results. Using a four-fram comic, students will use characters and word balloons to provide the best Boolean search input for the scenarios.
This podcast was created to keep students safe while using the Internet. The information included in the podcast teaches students what information they should not give out on any Internet site. Students should not give out names, phone numbers, addresses, or send pictures via the Internet to protect them from harm. Students learn to be cautious when creating new accounts on websites, such as networking sites.
