Title: Let's Describe! (Adjectives Lesson)
Description: Students will learn what an adjective is and how to categorize adjectives using an interactive sorting game. Students will compete with each other by categorizing adjectives by color, shape, size, and kind. Students will have to read and sort the adjective word cards. The student with no adjective word cards first, wins! Furthermore, students will use magazine photographs to describe nouns and write sentences. Description: The Greedy Triangle, a Marilyn Burns book, will assist students in determining the simple relationships among polygons. With the addition of a side and an angle, students will be able to determine the difference among triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, and hexagon. Title: Beanie Baby Habitats Collaborative Project
Description: With the booming market of "Beanie Baby" type stuffed animals being so prominent in students' lives, this project brings that interest into the classroom through the use of research, science, hands-on experiences, and technology. The project includes research of living things and habitats through various resources including textbookss, trade books, encyclopedias, and the Internet. It also includes a hands-on project where students design and create a habitat for a chosen living thing. Students will work collaboratively in the classroom and use communication skills to share information with another classroom using distance learning capabilities throughout the project.

Title: Changing "Now" Words to "Then" Words
Description: This interdisciplinary lesson teaches first graders to use the inflectional ending -ed to create past tense verbs from present tense verbs. As children learn to use the -ed pattern, they change familiar root words into longer words to denote past time. These words are recognized in reading comprehension as past time, in personal writing, and spelling with the -ed ending.

Description: In this lesson the students will be introduced to compound words through the use of a multimedia presentation. Students will then form compound words through the use of teacher-made puzzles.
