Introduction to Ayn Rand Using Online Resources |
| Overview/Annotation: |
Students will research Ayn Rand, a contemporary novelist, for biographical information and for her personal philosophy as a prelude to reading her novel, Anthem. Students will partner to gather information via online databases and will discuss findings in a group setting. |

| Procedures/Activities: |
1.)Using the handout "Accessing InfoTrac," students will navigate within the Alabama Virtual Library to gather information. ( Alabama Virtual Library) Extensive collection of encyclopedias, periodicals, and other reference materials.
2.)Students will work in pairs to gather information. One student will act as navigator, and the other as recorder. Using the handout "Directed Research," the recorder will enter required responses.
3.)After research is completed, students will meet as a single group to discuss findings.
