Students will use Saxon materials to explore place value, addition,beginning geometry and calendar use, ordinal numbers, and use the appropriate math vocabulary.

Procedures/Activities:
1.)Students will illustrate simple math stories to understand meaning of addition.

2.)Students will join groups and connect plus and equal signs and the term sum to the operation.

3.)Students will do everyday calendar math to explore concepts of time/seasons.

4.)Write addition sentences. Identify part-whole relationships.

5.)Students will use everyday occurences to develop and solve math problems.

6.)Use story problems to explore concepts of subtraction

7.)Students will develop story problems for class to solve.

8.)Students will explore place value of tens and ones in a variety of formats.
