The objective of the LEA Compliance Monitoring program is to adequately monitor all K-12 school systems in Alabama for compliance with state and federal regulations and State Board of Education mandates.
After departmental research and planning, the following monitoring method was devised which includes:
A self-assessment (in ASSIST) to be completed by your school system due by Nov. 1 of each year (unless you are being monitored before Nov. 1 in the present school year). If you are being monitored before Nov. 1, you will need to load before your monitoring date.
An on-site monitoring visit conducted by the ALSDE, of your school system, once every four years. *Please note that the Library Media Program audit is a desk audit. All required documents must be sent to the SDE. (See Below)
Again, due to recent changes in monitoring, Instructional Services reconfigured our monitoring document so that the Library Media audit will be done via desk audit.
Several documents are required to support compliance in the area of library media. System directors for Library Media will receive the information prior to the audit or the preparation document may be downloaded here.
Since many systems are now using AdvancEd's ASSIST, here are documents that may help with the Library Media portion.
Required documentation will be sent to either Meg Lowry (email@example.com) or Dede Coe (firstname.lastname@example.org). The recipient of your information will be based on the attached state map showing responsibility by district. Meg’s districts are shaded in green and Dede’s areas are clear.
