General Information about the Program

32 Years of Winners

In 2009, a statewide voting was held to rename the Alabama Children's Choice Book Award Program. This section is devoted to the newly named Alabama Camellia Children's Choice Award. The Alabama Camellia Award program (formerly known as the Emphasis on Reading program) selects books from three grade level categories: K-1 (10), 2-3 (10), and 4-6 (10). Here you will find the current book list, activity guide, criteria for selection, program timeline, voting ballots, past winners, and any current news about the program.

Librarians have the education and skills to lead Alabama schools through the educational landscape of Dr. Tommy Bice’s Plan 2020. In our role as an instructional leader, we link teacher’s, student’s and the entire educational community to resources necessary for success at every level. In recognition of the importance of this link, we are declaring our theme for the year to be LNK2LRN.
