Black History Month

This being Black History Month, I would like to ask people to celebrate the similarities and not focus on the differences between people of color and not of color.

Black History Month Activities

Terri Owens, Media Specialist
Bagley K-8 School
Jefferson County Schools

Bagley K-8 School celebrated African-American History Month with a fantastic reader/speaker from the Jefferson County Board of Education. Mrs. Margaret Beard, Director of Minority Compliance enthusiastically encouraged students to believe in themselves and know that they too can achieve their dreams just as others have. The students took to heart her words and as the pictures show were very appreciative of her visit. She was wonderful!

Our school also joined over a million readers by participating in The Twenty-First National African-American Read-In which is endorsed by the NCTE Black Caucus and the National Council of Teachers of English and The International Reading Association.
