Beyond Suffering and Suffrage: Part 1
Overview:
The eyes of the world were on Birmingham in September of 1963. Amid struggle and tragedy, courage and redemption, better opportunities were created for all Americans. Fifty years later, Regions proudly served as a corporate partner in 50 Years Forward, as the city of Birmingham commemorated the anniversary of the Civil Rights Movement. As part of a week-long commemoration of the Civil Rights Movement, Regions hosted a panel discussion featuring Birmingham native and former U.S. Secretary of State Dr. Condoleezza Rice. For nearly 90 minutes, the panelists candidly discussed the past, present and future of Civil and Human Rights. With Gayle King, co-anchor of the CBS This Morning and editor-at-large for O, The Oprah Magazine, they covered topics ranging from the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church to modern-day education and immigration issues. This is Part 1 of 3.  Use the links below to view the remaining sections. Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
