Title: How Much Does It Cost?
Description: Students will use an online mortgage calculator to determine  the cost of financing a house over various lengths of time and at various interest rates.  This lesson is excellent to include in a budgeting unit.

Title: That's All I Have to Spend for a Whole Month?
Description: As a part of the study of personal economics, students will research a career, costs of rent, insurance, food, transportation, etc. and prepare a monthly budget based on their research.


Subject: Mathematics (4 - 6), or Social Studies (7), or Technology Education (6 - 8)
Title: Can you survive in the real world?
Description: Living in the real world is expensive and sometimes hard for a new college graduate to adjust to. This lesson will allow students to see the importance and need of budgeting money. Students will have to make choices and research different budget areas. Can they survive in the real world? This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science University, GEMS-U Project.

Title: New York with $1200
Description: CONGRATULATIONS!!! You are Demopolis Middle School’s first –place winner of the annual MATHATHON!!!!!!!!!! You and three of your classmates have been awarded an exciting trip to NEW YORK CITY! You will each be given $1200 to cover all your expenses during your three day stay. You must use only your $1200 prize to cover all expenses (transportation costs, hotel accommodations, food, gratuities (tips), souvenirs, and entertainment). Please budget your money carefully – decide which purchases are most important and budget these first. Don’t forget to have fun!!

Title: Xpedition Hall      Add Bookmark
Description: Built around the National Geography Standards, Xpedition Hall is a virtual museum that is filled with interactive exhibits designed to provoke reflection on how human beings shape and are shaped by the world in which we live. The Hall contains one exhibit for each of standard, and groups these exhibits into six galleries, which correspond to the standards six underlying '' elements.'' Students use can use an image or map of the Hall to navigate through the exhibits.
