Title: May the Force Be With You!
Description: The goal of this lesson is to provide students with hands on experiences, while learning about magnets. This lesson engages students in experiments which explore magnet use. An emphasis is placed on open-ended questions which encourage students to ask questions to each other.This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science University, GEMS-U Project.

Title: Simple Machines
Description: During this lesson students learn about the six types of simple machines. They define each type of machine, experiment with each type, utilize the Internet to explore each type of machine, and build their own simple machine. This lesson is designed for third grades students but can be adapted for second grade.

Title: Pendulums Swing Into Motion
Description: This lesson will allow students in groups to describe the relationship between energy, work, and force through the use of pendulums. The results will be reported through a graphing activity as well as a paragraph written and printed on the computer.

Description: In this Science NetLinks lesson, students explore how the Earth's and moon's gravity affects the path of a rocket launched into space. The focus of this lesson is on Earth's gravitational pull, as well as forces and how the motion of an object changes.
