Title: Machines all Around Us
Description: Student will examine different rooms in the school looking for simple machines. They will use digital cameras to take pictures of the simple machine they have found in the school and Microsoft PowerPoint to create a presentation of their findings. This lesson was created by Miller, Gladden, and Watson- Oscar Adams Elementary School Tech Team.

Title: Simple Machines
Description: During this lesson students learn about the six types of simple machines. They define each type of machine, experiment with each type, utilize the Internet to explore each type of machine, and build their own simple machine. This lesson is designed for third grades students but can be adapted for second grade.

Title: Levers - Weight Lifters
Description: During this lesson, students will have the opportunity to explore levers through hands-on experiences and by navigating the Internet. This lesson allows students to use their experiences to determine how levers and other simple machines make work easier.

Title: Use Simple Machines to Help Stuart Little
Description: Students will use their knowledge of simple machines to design a way to bring a birthday package into the Little's living room, using simple and complex machines to make this job easier to do.

Title: Simple Machines Webquest
Description: This lesson is designed to allow students to explore simple machines through a Webquest with Internet resources provided for research of simple machines. Students then create a report, with pictures, in Word, and finally, invent their own simple machine for presentation.

Title: Break It Down!      Add Bookmark
Description: In this Science NetLinks lesson, students explore the everyday implications of system failure and are challenged to identify the causes. There are two prerequisite lessons for this lesson: Systems 1: Simple Machines and Systems 2: Systems, Up, Up and Away! In the first lesson, students observe the interaction of parts and establish a framework for understanding system. In the second lesson, students explore how changing parts or amounts of parts can impact the properties of a system. This lesson asks students to further their experience by exploring the everyday impacts of system failure and challenges them to identify the causes of failure.
