Title: Does Deo Effect Your BO?
Description: Students will research different types of deodorant and conduct their own investigations on the best type of deodorant that is compatible with their skin type. Deodorant usually comes in four basic formulations: a clear gel-base, a solid white chalk, a powder, and spray. The objective to this experiment is to discover whether different deodorants (gel-based, solid white, powder, and spray) work better for certain skin types: dry, oily, and normal.

Title: Play It Safe!!!
Description: Students will learn and demonstrate lab safety rules. They will work in groups to create a script and digital video of themselves acting out the incorrect practices of lab safety. The video will then be uploaded for access.  Students other that the ones acting will note on paper the  lab safety rule that was violated and suggest the proper safety rule.

Title: Surface Water Testing
Description: In this environmental science lab you will chemically test a nearby creek or pond for dissolved oxygen, pH, alkalinity, hardness and turbidity.  This is a field test and will determine the water quality of standing body of water.  The lab will also test for the presence of coliform bacteria.

Title: Barf Biology (An Extended Owl Pellet Dissection)
Description: As part of the study of the biosphere, the students will create pyramids using owl pellets.  In groups, students will dissect owl pellets to aquire information about owl consumption.  Groups will then create an ecological pyramid, a number pyramid, and a biomass pyramid.  These creations will be composed into a vodcast to be shared on school tube.

Title: Plants, Pigments and Colors
Description: In this hands-on, inquiry based lesson students will see the role of pigments in the in the process of photosynthesis. Students will use the process of chromatography to separate plant pigments. Students will then see the function of these pigments in helping plants maintain life.


Subject: Credit Recovery Science (8 - 12)
Title: The Legend of the Mummy’s Curse- Fact or Fiction?
Description: This is a technology-based, hands-on Biology lesson used to introduce the scientific method to students. Students will make a prediction on whether they think the curse is true or false. Students will listen to a podcast describing a scientific investigation of the curse. Students will then research the Mummy’s curse using the internet and answer questions about the investigation.

Title: Introduction to the Light Microscope: The Virtual Microscope
Description: This is a Microscope Internet Lab that can be used as a virtual lab for a whole class or as a make-up lab.   The virtual microscope is a little more complicated than the microscope that are used in the labs but it will not be difficult to use.This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science University, GEMS-U Project.

Title: Safety in the Science Lab
Description: Students, working in groups, write and produce a video on laboratory safety. This can be done as an interdiciplinary activity with the English and/or drama departments.
