Title: What is in a Biome? 
Description: As part of the study of the biosphere, the students will create a lesson and provide a three dimensional model of teacher assigned biome.  In groups students will use lap tops to acquire information about assigned biome.  Groups will then create lesson presentation and a three dimensional model explaining identifying characteristics of assigned biome.

Title: Organism PowerPoints/ Booklets
Description: This lesson requires students to use technology to research information on any organism from one of the six kingdoms. Students use the information to produce a PowerPoint presentation or booklet to present to their classmates. This project covers several biology and zoology objectives and is intended to be a review of the material previously covered.This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science, GEMS Project funded by the Malone Family Foundation.

Description: Oh, Deer helps students to understand food, water, and shelter as three essential components of an organism's habitat. It is intended to show how food, water, and shelter are limiting factors that affect the population growth of other organisms. This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science, GEMS Project funded by the Malone Family Foundation.

Description: This lesson allows students to view and draw conclusions on the importance of life in the ocean. It uses student created movies to explore what is going on, as well as identifying the zones and diverse life associated with the oceans. Title: About a Tree: The Life and Work of Emerging Explorer Mark Olson      Add Bookmark
Description: In this Xpeditions lesson, students learn about National Geographic Emerging Explorer Mark Olson's efforts to identify extinct or nearly extinct plants and the reasons for the plant losses. They consider the issues surrounding conservation efforts in dry tropical regions. Students read articles highlighting the tension between wildlife conservation and agriculture, compare the perspectives of those who are most intensely involved in both, and form an opinion as to what might be done to resolve the conflict. Students research both sides of the issue and write an editorial or letter to Congress supporting their opinion. This lesson is based on the National Geographic news article titled Scaring Up Ghost Plants in Mexico.

Title: Owls: Top of a Food Chain      Add Bookmark
Description: This Science NetLinks lesson serves as proof that owls eat rodents and use this energy to survive. Owls excrete the parts of the rodent that they are unable to digest, leading students to infer that they are recycled in the soil. Using commercial owl pellets, students can try to identify the type of rodent eaten by the owl. Students are capable of creating a food chain based on prior knowledge: Owl-vole-grain or seeds-sun.
