Title: Diverse Life forms of the Ocean
Description: This lesson allows students to view and draw conclusions on the importance of life in the ocean. It uses student created movies to explore what is going on, as well as identifying the zones and diverse life associated with the oceans. The teacher will be able to facilitate mult-faceted questions concerning the oceans and all the interactions of life within it.This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science, GEMS Project funded by the Malone Family Foundation.

Description: In this lesson, from Xpeditions, students learn about the five primary subdisciplines of oceanography and think of questions that each type of oceanographer might ask when conducting research in his or her field. They then examine Web sites to learn about oceanographic research and determine which type of oceanographer would be the most involved and interested in these research projects.
