Description: Collaboration of creative writing/creative dramatics using Distance Learning. Title: "What do we do? Natural Disasters in the United States"
Description: During the course of this lesson, the students will research various forms of natural disasters that occur in the United States and what someone should do in the event of that disaster. The teacher and library media specialist will collaborate during the planning, instruction, and research phases of this lesson. The students will take the information they collected and place it on a PowerPoint presentation to be presented to the class. This information should include several pictures that will be located on the Internet. The Library Media Specialist will guide the students through the process of obtaining permission for the use of various images.

Title: We Can Dig It!
Description: In this lesson, third grade students will explore "fossils" by using chocolate chip cookies in an interactive fossil dig! Through creative problem-based learning that incorporates technology, students will work in collaborative groups to create a podcast about paleontology. After completing this group project, the students will be able to relate to paleontologists while understanding the significance of paleontology on the local environment.This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science, GEMS Project funded by the Malone Family Foundation.

Description: Students will conduct an experiment to see if there is more pollution in the air outside or inside the classroom. The effects and causes of pollution will be discussed. Students will also test different methods of purifying water and learn the health hazards of non-purified water. Description: This lesson introduces the 10 main categories used in the Dewey Decimal Classification System for non-fiction bookshelf arrangement. Students will be able to demonstrate what they learn through participating in an interactive game.
