Title: Lights! Camera! Action! Creating video vocabulary.
Description: Students will select important words from the unit of study and create a 15 second video on twitter or instagram acting out the word. Students will use a hash tag for each unit to make the words easy to find during review times. (example #2015unit2)

Title: Social Media Responsibility
Description: Students will watch a local news report on Social Media Responsibility. They will work in groups and conduct research about the topic. They will come up with tips for teens, then create a presentation using the Haiku Deck web app that can be shared with other teens and the community.

Title: "My Three Words" vodcast compilation or series
Description: Students create vodcasts that use the format of the Good Morning America feature "My Three Words". This works well as a culminating activity for a unit or a technology-based project. In groups, students select a three word phrase to communicate a specific topic/idea, then create a storyboard and choose appropriate multimedia elements to best express their chosen phrase. They use a variety of software applications to find or create images and produce a video file.

Title: What Are the Chances?
Description: Students will use technology to investigate probability from basic terms to the theoretical probability of events.This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science, GEMS Project funded by the Malone Family Foundation.

Title: Washed Away
Description: In this lesson, students will learn about water erosion. They will view pictures and videos, complete drawings, and work in collaborative groups as they research types of water erosion (rill, gully, sheet, and channel). Students will also connect water erosion to deposition.This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science, GEMS Project funded by the Malone Family Foundation.

Title: Ramp for Handicap Accessibility - Part 2
Description: Working in groups of 4-5 students will use the information, pictures, diagrams, and narratives created in Part 1 to develop a brochure. The brochure will consist of guidelines for handicap accessible ramps, sample calculations and contact information. It must be suitable for distribution at city hall.

Title: New York with $1200
Description: CONGRATULATIONS!!! You are Demopolis Middle School’s first –place winner of the annual MATHATHON!!!!!!!!!! You and three of your classmates have been awarded an exciting trip to NEW YORK CITY! You will each be given $1200 to cover all your expenses during your three day stay. You must use only your $1200 prize to cover all expenses (transportation costs, hotel accommodations, food, gratuities (tips), souvenirs, and entertainment). Please budget your money carefully – decide which purchases are most important and budget these first. Don’t forget to have fun!!

Title: Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott
Description: This lesson introduces students to Rosa Parks and the beginning of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. After considering the impact of Ms. Parks' heroism, students will explore its relevance to the beginning of the Civil Rights Movement. Students will learn new vocabulary and will answer a questionnaire that will be published on the web. Students will then create a tribute to Rosa Parks' heroism that will be submitted to a classroom book.

Title: Interactive Reading Project
Description: Students are motivated to read and learn to discuss literature by discussing books they are reading via e-mail.
