Title: Save a buck challenge
Description: Our pipes leak, air drafts push through our windows and walls, light bulbs create more heat than light, and every appliance we have stays plugged in all day long.  Of course its our parents who pay the bills, so it doesn't matter.  This is a challenge for students to enact the biggest change per cost at home.

Title: Parallel Photography
Description: Students will use laptops and digital cameras to understand parallel lines, corresponding angles, alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, and same-side (consecutive) interior angles.  Poster-size concept maps will be created by students and posted on the classroom "word wall."

Title: What Happened To Your Eye?: An Eye Stimulation eLab
Description: This is a virtual lab that investigates the effects of damage to eye muscles and nerves on the motion of the eyes.  This lab is extremely realistic.  This activity can be done as a whole class or as a demonstration.

Title: Disaster Recovery for Dummies
Description: The students use hardware and software to recover information from a server. This is a Commerce and Information Technology lesson plan.

Description: This lesson will explore several investment options and the risks involved with each. This is a Commerce and Information Technology lesson plan.

Title: Which Internet Service is Right for Me?
Description: Students will investigate different options for Internet access including options and pricing and make decisions about which Internet service is best for a given scenario. This is a Commerce and Information Technology lesson plan.

Title: Insurance to Protect My Home
Description: This lesson will compare types of dwelling insurance such as condo, renter, and homeowners. The types of insurance will be defined, and the items covered will be identified. Also, within the homeowners category, the levels of coverage will be explored. This is a Commerce and Information Technology lesson plan.

Title: Insure My Life?
Description: In this lesson, life insurance options will be explored. Students will conduct online research to compare life insurance policies from 5 different companies. This is a Commerce and Information Technology lesson plan.

Title: Finding Information Using the Internet
Description: In this lesson students learn how to use the Internet to find driving directions and maps. Students will locate the street address of a financial institution and generate a map with driving directions from home or school. Students will then research the financial institutions to determine what types of services are offered by each and compile the information using a spreadsheet.

Title: Math is Functional
Description: This lesson is a technology-based activity in which students extend graphing of linear functions to the use of spreadsheet software. After students have become proficient in constructing a table of values, students are able to efficiently graph equations with more extensive computational requirements. Furthermore, inquiry and discovery about slope and y-intercept will help students conceptualize material normally presented in Algebra I textbooks.

Title: Endangered Species - What am I Going to Do to Save Them?
Description: This is a biology or environmental science lesson that incorporates technology. This project-based plan is designed to be used as students study the factors that affect the dynamic equilibrium of populations and ecosystems. This lesson would be useful in remediation for Standard VI of the AHSGE.

Title: How Big Can a Bee Be?
Description: Students will study the relationship between surface area and volume. Math, science, and technology components are included.

Title: National Park Road Trip
Description: This lesson allows students to use computer skills they have learned to do a research project on national parks. The students will research a park, plan a trip to a park, keep a "journal" of the trip, document their sources using MLA style, and then make a presentation to the class.

Title: Geometer's Sketchpad Basics - Getting Students Acquainted with Geometer's Sketchpad
Description: In this lesson students will explore Geometer's Sketchpad. They will use this computer software to discover how points, segments, midpoints, angles, polygons, etc. are related. The students will also be intrigued by their constant interaction with geometry.

Title: Web-Based Personality Survey Activity
Description: This is an activity for psychology classes. Students take a short version of the Myer-Briggs Personality Survey and then analyze their results. It is important to teach the students about personality and personality tests before using this activity.


Subject: Mathematics (9 - 12), or Technology Education (9 - 12)
Title: Spreadsheets and Budgets
Description: This activity allows students to use real-world data to create a spreadsheet budget. This project is designed to be the culmination of a spreadsheet unit.
