Title: Show Me the Money
Description: In this lesson, students identify coins, describe their attributes, learn their value, and count like coins. Students view an interactive web lesson that provides practice. Concepts are taught using songs, poems and games.   This lesson plan was created by exemplary Alabama Math Teachers through the AMSTI project.

Description: This lesson will introduce students to the clock and telling time to the hour. This lesson plan was created by exemplary Alabama Math Teachers through the AMSTI project.

Title: Time to Tell Time
Description: Students will learn how to tell time to the minute using an analog clock manipulative and an Internet based program.This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science, GEMS Project funded by the Malone Family Foundation.

Title: My Time!
Description: This lesson provides the students with practice in telling time, record keeping, and elapsed time.This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science, GEMS Project funded by the Malone Family Foundation.

Title: Calendar Communication
Description: The students will learn calendar skills by using a calendar log on a daily basis. Children will be responsible for filling in their calendars daily. This activity will also lead to great communication between home and school.This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science, GEMS Project funded by the Malone Family Foundation.

Title: It's About Time
Description: During this lesson students gain an understanding of an analog clock and a digital clock. Students watch a movie that explains the importance of time. Students make a clock, see how it works, and complete activities that demonstrate understanding of the concepts covered.

Title: What To Buy?
Description: During this lesson students get to experience shopping through a slide show. They have to choose an item and then place the correct amount of money beside the item they wish to purchase. Students also practice counting money via the Internet.

Title: My Favorite Time of Day
Description: This is a hands-on mathematics lesson for telling time to the hour. Students will use individual clocks with partners for guided practice. The assessment will be a writing/drawing activity incorporating the use of a computer for word processing purposes.

Title: Tell Time to the Hour and Minute
Description: This lesson will teach students how to tell time by allowing them to use manipulative clocks and navigating the Internet. The students will even create their own clock to take home and demonstrate what they learned to their parents.

Title: We All Scream For Ice Cream!
Description: Students will learn the value of coins and a one dollar bill and to count coin combinations. This activity will provide them with a real world experience in which to practice these skills.

Title: The Grouchy Ladybug Tells Time
Description: The students will use the book, The Grouchy Ladybug, by Eric Carle to tell time. They will also use manipulatives and will draw the clock hands to the appropriate times.

Title: The Grouchy Ladybug
Description: The students will thoughtfully listen to a story read aloud and comprehend the sequence of events. This lesson will culminate units completed in science and math and will incorporate literature, science, and math.

Description: In this lesson, one of a multi-part unit from Illuminations, students model prices mentioned in a children s book. Then they make change from a given amount by counting on from the price. Several pieces of literature appropriate for use with this lesson are suggested.

Description: Pennies, nickels and dimes can add up to a lot of money over time. Saving some pennies for a rainy day is always a good idea, and giving some of those pennies to a good cause can make you feel pretty good, too.

Subject: Mathematics
Title: Counting Back and Counting On      Add Bookmark
Description: This lesson, one of a multi-part unit from Illuminations, focuses on the counting model for subtraction. Students model numbers as a counting book is read. They then make a chain of links and write in vertical and horizontal format the differences suggested by adding and subtracting one link at a time from their chains. Finally, they draw a chain showing one link being taken away and write in two formats the difference it represents.
