Title: Popping HOT
Description: In this lesson students will discover the different forms of heat transfer such as conduction, convection, and radiation and that these forms can be demonstrated by popping popcorn. Students will learn the health benefits of popcorn, one of America’s favorite snacks. Students will also use fun facts about popcorn to solve math problems.
This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science, GEMS Project funded by the Malone Family Foundation.

Title: Inner and Outer Planets of the Solar System
Description: In this science lesson students will work collaboratively to learn and introduce the eight planets, sizes, characteristics, and their order. They will use size comparisons, research a planet, design a poster and create a PowerPoint presentation.

Title: The Average Middle "Schooler"
Description: In this lesson, students will work in groups to find the average middle school student. They will measure members of the group, find the average, and convert to different units of measure. Description: During this lesson, students use data they collect from a class activity to find the mean, mode, median, and range. Students utilize the Internet as a source of information by viewing websites to learn how to find the mean, median, mode, and range of data.

Title: The Water Cycle
Description: During this lesson, students will learn that water is constantly being recycled through the atmosphere and how this affects us. Students will explore the water cycle on the Internet. Students create different types of weather situations to see how the water cycle works. Mathematics skills will be used to determine results from the observations.
