Description: This lesson allows students to become familiar with a number line. Students can explore a number line and develop knowledge of numerical concepts. While it covers a 6th grade standard, this lesson can be used as part of a 7th or 8th grade lesson on integers. This is a College- and Career-Ready Standards showcase lesson plan.

Description: In this lesson, students will identify and locate numberspostive and negative numbers, including decimals and fractions on a number line. This lesson plan was created by exemplary Alabama Math Teachers through the AMSTI project.

Title: Positively F.U.N. !   (fantastic, unique, and noteworthy) ways to idenitfy and add positive and negative integers)
Description: This lesson will actively engage students to identify and add positive and negative integers.  In cooperative groups, students will discuss everyday vocabulary that will activate students' existing background knowledge and set the purpose for understanding integers.  Students will integrate new information with prior knowledge.  This lesson plan was created by exemplary Alabama Math Teachers through the AMSTI project.

Title: Integers Are Rising and Falling Everywhere! Adding and Subtracting Integers
Description: Students will expand from the idea of not only identifying signed numbers but to use them for numerical operations.This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science, GEMS Project funded by the Malone Family Foundation.

Title: The Path to Positive
Description: Using the story Less than Zero by Stuart Murphy, students relate money matters to positive and negative numbers as a real-life correlation. Incorporated into this lesson, students play the path to positive game where they are required to add integers.This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science, GEMS Project funded by the Malone Family Foundation.
