Title: Parallel Photography
Description: Students will use laptops and digital cameras to understand parallel lines, corresponding angles, alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, and same-side (consecutive) interior angles.  Poster-size concept maps will be created by students and posted on the classroom "word wall."


Subject: Mathematics (9 - 12), or Technology Education (9 - 12)
Title: Polygons All Around Us! (This lesson is geared to a standard high school geometry class.)
Description: This is a hands-on lesson that introduces students to polygons and their properties. It also promotes visual learning by having students identify how polygons are used in the world around us. Students will be given the opportunity to see the importance of geometry in the construction of almost everything in our world. Students will be able to state properties of different geometric figures. This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science, GEMS Project funded by the Malone Family Foundation.


Subject: Mathematics (8 - 12)
Title: Quadrilaterals
Description: This is an inquiry lesson used to review Algebra 1 objectives by applying them to geometry concepts. Students explore the properties of quadrilaterals and classify them by definition. This lesson can be use in geometry classes. Students in geometry classes can apply theorems and definitions of quadrilaterals rather than as an inquiry lesson.This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science, GEMS Project funded by the Malone Family Foundation.

Description: This student reproducible, from an Illuminations lesson, contains a map of the area wherein students must choose a location to build a new hospital so it is equidistant from Boise, Idaho; Helena, Montana; and Salt Lake City, Utah. Students do their work on a blank transparency and overlay their work onto this map.
