Title: Spotting Sounds All Around
Description: This is both a hands-on and technology based lesson where students can apply their knowledge of letter/sound relationships while incorporating the use of classroom technology. This Language Arts activity will allow for the students to work with a partner to find objects in the classroom that begin with the initial sounds of selected letters of the alphabet. The partners will use the classroom digital camera to photograph each of the items. The images will then be downloaded to the classroom computer to create a class Power Point presentation about letter/sound relationships.

Title: Read Well Letter Chant Podcast
Description: This lesson guides students through creating a Podcast that provides video and audio of the Read Well Letter Chant.   Students take pictures of the cards and record the chant to go along with the cards.

Title: RHYMING CHARADES K, 1, 2, 3
Description: Students use listening and kinesthetic skills to show their understanding of rhyme.  They associate words that rhyme through pantomime.  This activity encourages students to use prior knowledge and experience.

Title: The Very Hungry Class
Description: Eric Carle's "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" is a great trade book to teach many concepts across the curriculum. This lesson has activities to excite your students in all subject areas. Students will be familiar with the metamorphsis process and will enrich skills in other curriculium areas.

Title: Read, Write, and Say
Description: In this lesson students improve their ability to spell sight words and decodable text. Students use a slideshow presentation to practice spelling frequently-used words. This lesson will improve students' writing skills.

Title: Word Families: -ig and -ip
Description: This technology-based lesson will help students develop their phonemic awareness by teaching students to hear the sounds in the -ig and -ip word families. It also leads students to apply what they have learned.

Title: Fun on the Farm
Description: During this lesson, students will navigate the Internet to learn about farm animals. Students will take a virtual field trip with the teacher to explore a farm. They will also visit a website and explore farm animals and their sounds.

Title: Upper and Lower Case Match-up
Description: This technology-based lesson has students navigate Internet sites to assist them with learning the letter names and sounds. Students also use slideshow presentations to identify letter matches and learn beginning sounds.

Title: Phonological Awareness/Beginning Sounds
Description: During this lesson students will develop phonological awareness through activities that focus on beginning sounds. Students will go on a scavenger hunt, make a picture book, and play games on the Internet in order to help them learn to identify beginning sounds.

Title: Phonological Awareness/Rhyming
Description: During this lesson students will be introduced to rhyme in a variety of ways. Students will use picture cards, practice rhyming on the Internet, and listen to a book with rhyme. At the end of the lesson, student should be able to recognize rhyming words.

Title: Cookies and Rhyme
Description: This lesson will help students reinforce reading readiness skills (rhyming) with a chant and activities. After reading the story,Who Took The Cookies From The Cookie Jar, the students will recite the word that rhymes with a word from the line in the story. A puppet activity and Internet games will reinforce rhyming skills.

Title: Celebrating Seuss!
Description: In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday students will explore and develop a love of the literature of Dr. Seuss through read-alouds and activities such as a birthday party, rhyming word matching, and graphing.

Title: Meet Miss E
Description: Students will be introduced to the letter E. They will learn both the long and short vowel sound, as well as learn to recognize the capital and lowercase letter. They will also put Miss E in the middle of two consonants to sound out one syllable words. They will learn through different types of literature and the Internet.

Title: There's Magic In Green Eggs and Ham
Description: As a part of a unit about Dr. Suess, students will learn about sequential order. Student understanding will be aided by the use of hands-on preparation of green eggs and ham, dictation, flannel board, sentence strips, and a living center.
