Title: Making Measuring Meaningful!
Description: This activity helps students recognize that measuring tools can come in many different shapes and sizes. The student's will develop creative-thinking, math, and social skills as they use nontraditional and traditional measuring tools. This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science University, GEMS-U Project.

Title: Telling Time to the Hour
Description: This lesson helps children make a connection between the digital and analog clock. In general, the number system is based on units of ten which can sometimes make it difficult for children to realize that time is based on cycles of 60.This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science, GEMS Project funded by the Malone Family Foundation.

Title: Celebrating Seuss!
Description: In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday students will explore and develop a love of the literature of Dr. Seuss through read-alouds and activities such as a birthday party, rhyming word matching, and graphing.

Title: Cooking Experience with Blueberries For Sal
Description: This lesson will enhance the study of the color blue by providing a story, cooking experience and writing activity.

Title: Recognizing Letters of the Alphabet
Description: This lesson reviews the alphabet with very young learners and introduces the concept of shelving in the library. The lesson incorporates software, reading, and games to address individual learning modes of the students.

Title: There's Magic In Green Eggs and Ham
Description: As a part of a unit about Dr. Suess, students will learn about sequential order. Student understanding will be aided by the use of hands-on preparation of green eggs and ham, dictation, flannel board, sentence strips, and a living center.

Title: Easter Egg Eggstravaganza
Description: Computer and language arts skills will be introduced, reinforced and enriched through Easter activities related to the book The Golden Egg by A.J. Wood.

Title: Once Upon A Bear
Description: This lesson uses children's literature as a basis for a cross-curricular mini-unit on bears.

After they finish their interviews, students share what they have learned about their interviewees experiences, memories, and feelings about coming to live in their new community.

Description: In this unit of six lessons, from EDSITEment, students use their senses to experience poetry. Students listen to poems and rhymes, clap out syllables, and sing along with familiar tunes. They also use puppets and crafts to help recall and retell favorite poems. Finally, students experience the joy of crafting their own original poems.
