Title: Fun with Fiction!
Description: This lesson focuses on the story element of character and setting. Students learn how to identify the characters. Students will identify and describe the characters of a whole group story that is read aloud. Students will identify and describe the setting of each story.

Title: Find the Fat
Description: Students will experiment with and evaluate healthy and unhealthy foods.  Students will take digital pictures and view during a class discussion about fat content in foods. Students will watch a video about healthy eating and exercise and respond to the experience through writing and drawing.  This is a College- and Career-Ready Standards showcase lesson plan.

Title: What a Character!
Description: Kindergarten students will learn what a character is.  Students will create characters using feelings, actions, and behavior. They will portray their characters and explain the choices they made to develop them.

Title: Who's Line Is It Anyway? 
Description: In this lesson students will learn about line of symmetry in real life objects. An interactive web lesson is used to engage students and give a multitude of real life examples with some interactive practice. The lesson also includes an art activity in the extension. This lesson plan was created by exemplary Alabama Math Teachers through the AMSTI project.

Title: "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes"
Description: Students will have the opportunity to learn names of many parts of the human body and how they helps the body function healthy.  Students will put a skeleton together to create a full human body.This lesson plan was created as a result of the Girls Engaged in Math and Science University, GEMS-U Project.

Title: It's Great to be ME!
Description: This lesson addresses the similarities and differences among people. Incorporating the literature of Eric Carle and a virtual field trip focusing on healthy habits and the five senses, students will have a greater sense of their connection to each other.


Subject: English Language Arts (K), or Technology Education (K - 2)
Title: Cookies and Rhyme
Description: This lesson will help students reinforce reading readiness skills (rhyming) with a chant and activities. After reading the story,Who Took The Cookies From The Cookie Jar, the students will recite the word that rhymes with a word from the line in the story. A puppet activity and Internet games will reinforce rhyming skills.

Description: In this Xpeditions student activity, students become reporters for the local newspaper and conduct interviews with someone who has migrated to their community. After they finish their interviews, students share what they have learned about their interviewees experiences, memories, and feelings about coming to live in their new community.
