Title: Let’s plant a garden with Frog and Toad
Description: Interdisciplinary ELA and science lesson where students explore the social ethics and dynamics of friendship. Students will also discuss, compare and contrast the differences of toads attempt to plant a garden to the actual needs of a developing seed.  This is a College- and Career-Ready Standards showcase lesson plan.

Title: My Computer Alphabet Book
Description: During this lesson, students will use the computer to make an alphabet book using word processing software. Students will demonstrate their ability to list pictures with the same beginning sound as the letters of the alphabet and learn how to insert clip art and type words in a document.

Title: Phonemic Awareness with Technology
Description: This lesson allows students to use the Internet to manipulate words by changing initial sounds. Students will use computer skills while learning how to change words by changing the initial sound.

Title: Phonics Lesson: The ir, er, and ur Girls
Description: This phonics lesson will introduce the ir, er, and ur girls, but will focus on the /er/ sound. Students will learn that when found together the letters e and r make the /er/ sound instead of two separate sounds. Students will have the opportunity to make words with "er" on a dry erase board (or AlphaSmart) and will reinforce the lesson on the Internet.

Title: Long and Short Vowel Sounds
Description: During this lesson, students will learn the different sounds vowels make. They will view a slideshow presentation that teaches them the different sounds. Once they have learned the sounds, students will create a document of pictures representing the different vowel sounds. Students will also navigate the Internet to practice identifying the different vowel sounds.

Description: Students will read a story from their readers in pairs, alternating paragraphs.

Description: This lesson uses the book, The Jacket I Wear In The Snow, by Shirley Neitzel, to build writing skills as well as introduce students to the skills of alphabetizing, sequencing, and recognizing synonyms. This lesson could be used to integrate a winter weather unit into the Language Arts curriculum.
