Title: What's the Theme?
Description: This lesson is a beginning lesson to use to introduce the skill of theme. Students will read two picture books "Ranita, the Frog Princess" and "Frankly, I Never Wanted to Kiss Anybody!" determine the theme for each then compare them in a writing assignment.


Subject: English Language Arts (4)
Title: Digraphs!
Description: Students will review as a whole class on what a digraph is and identify the different types of digraphs used in spelling words. Students will sort words used based on the digraph pattern. This lesson is to help students to identify digraphs to guide them in being able to spell and read words correctly. Students will use the “H Brothers” strategy to help them to remember the different types of digraphs being used in words.


Subject: Character Education (K - 12), or English Language Arts (4), or Technology Education (3 - 5)
Title: Character Education - "Respect"
Description: This lesson will be implemented as part of a character education unit on integrity. Students will apply research skills, open-ended discussions, and cooperative learning experiences to investigate the meaning of "respect." Practicing good manners means showing respect for yourself, for others, for property, and for the world at large. Many of these basic courtesies are automatically included when the “Golden Rule” (Do unto others as you would have them do unto you) is the rule of thumb. Giving respect to others and having respect for oneself is an integral part of developing good character.
