Title: Digital Senior Memory Book
Description: Students will design a digital story that will consist of their memories and thoughts from their whole life. After the students finish the digital book, the book will be combined into a digital presentation to be shared at a senior luncheon.  


Subject: English Language Arts (10 - 12), or Technology Education (9 - 12)
Title: Writing a Persuasive Essay
Description: In this lesson students research opposing viewpoints on controversial issues and develop their own position papers. Though primarily for English classes, this lesson could be easily adapted for an interdisciplinary unit with social studies or science classes.

Title: Writing About Issues in the Media
Description: In this lesson students analyze media coverage of current issues and present their findings in a formal research paper and class presentation.

Title: Exploring the Alabama Virtual Library
Description: In preparation for independent research projects, students in small groups practice proper citation and familiarize themselves with Alabama Virtual Library databases using a graphic organizer.


Subject: English Language Arts (10 - 12), or Technology Education (9 - 12)
Title: Sharing Summer Reading Through Literature Circles
Description: This lesson allows students to discuss the assigned summer reading in literature circles with respect to plot, character, and theme. Students work in groups of three to four to produce a slideshow presentation of one of the novels read. Each group shares its presentation with the class.

Title: Your English Mentor: How to Write a Career Research Paper
Description: This structural design will guide students in writing a career research paper from start to finish. They will gather information; cite sources MLA style; develop a thesis statement, outline, and paragraphs; and create a research paper with references.

Title: On the Road author Jack Kerouac embarked on his first cross-country road trip in 1947.      Add Bookmark
Description: Students read a section from On the Road that deals with cross-country travel and reflects Kerouac's unique writing style. Students then attempt to write a narrative using Kerouac's stream-of-consciousness style.

Description: Students write a script for A Christmas Carol on a level that primary students can read and perform. Older students record the performance and create a website to showcase photographs.
