Description: Students will research various colleges of their choosing in order to best prepare for post-secondary endeavors.  The research will be conducted using a handout with specific questions for students to answer about each college. Students will present findings in a Microsoft Publisher brochure.  This is a College- and Career-Ready Standards showcase lesson plan.

Title: What Do Women Most Desire?
Description: Students will conduct survey based research and compile data that compares the responses that the knight's from The Wife of Bath's Tale received to the response of persons in modern day society.    This is a College- and Career-Ready Standards showcase lesson plan.

Title: Financing Your College Education-What College Can I Afford?
Description: This lesson provides student with the opportunity to think about financing college by considering the best use of the funding available. Consider pros and cons of attending school in state or out of state. Students should determine which education option they can afford to meet the goal of attending college. This plan contains a financial aid component.

Title: Teaching the Prologue to The Canterbury Tales
Description: In this self-directed study involving research, composition, and presentation, students analyze Chaucer's characters of The Canterbury Tales as presented in the Prologue. Each student casts a modern personality in the role of one of the characters and writes an essay defending the choice.

Title: Gossip to Learn: A Juicy Approach to Research
Description: Though teachers might use this student-centered, technology-based, one or two-day research project to introduce any author, English 12 teachers may wish to use the lesson to jump-start a unit on British literature from the Romantic period. The Shelleys, Wordsworth, Coleridge, and Lord Byron, for example, lived lives chockful of enough tantalizing secrets to keep their peers whispering over the fence forever. Generate interest in Romantic poetry and fiction as students use technology to delve into the oh-so-interesting lives of assigned authors.
