The Teachers and Girls of the GEMS-U Project 2011
Girls Engaged in Math and Science- University
Girls Engaged in Math and Science University (GEMS-U) is an innovative, exclusive Alabama statewide project designed to actively engage girls in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in order to better prepare them for college and the 21st Century workforce. In order to do this, the program focuses upon developing and disseminating high quality materials and training resources created by award-winning Alabama educators hosted by the Alabama Learning Exchange (ALEX)--a nationally-recognized state web portal for teachers, students, and parents. This video highlights the 2011 GEMS-U Exposition. At this event, girls presented projects that they created based upon GEMS-U lesson plans that had been taught by their classroom teachers.
