Title: HHMI Virtual neurophysiology lab
Description:
In this virtual exercise, students will probe the nervous system of a leech, concentrating on looking at the nerve cells that are responsible for collecting touch information from the skin of the leech to its simple brain. Students will perform an accurate simulated dissection to make part of the nervous system accessible in the first part of the lab, and then use virtual electronic equipment to investigate the electrical activity of individual nerve cells.
Standard(s): [S1] A&P (9-12) 8: Identify structures of the nervous system. [S1] A&P (9-12) 15: Identify physiological effects and components of the immune system.
