Title: Online Assessments
Description:
This site is a group of online assessments for math, science, vocabulary, and geography. This is a free service for teachers who want to replace paper tests with online testing. Teachers must create a free account to utilize this site. Account includes an online grade book providing fast analysis of class and individual student progress, an exchange for teachers to share the resources they create, a skills site for students, especially useful for math practice and testing.
Standard(s): [MA2013] (4) 12: Explain why a fraction ^{a}/_{b} is equivalent to a fraction ^{nxa}/_{nxb} by using visual fraction models, with attention to how the number and size of the parts differ even though the two fractions themselves are the same size. Use this principle to recognize and generate equivalent fractions. [4NF1] [MA2013] (4) 13: Compare two fractions with different numerators and different denominators, e.g., by creating common denominators or numerators or by comparing to a benchmark fraction such as ^{1}/_{2}. Recognize that comparisons are valid only when the two fractions refer to the same whole. Record the results of comparisons with symbols >, =, or <, and justify the conclusions, e.g., by using a visual fraction model. [4NF2] [MA2013] (5) 11: Add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators (including mixed numbers) by replacing given fractions with equivalent fractions in such a way as to produce an equivalent sum or difference of fractions with like denominators. [5NF1] [MA2013] (6) 4: Interpret and compute quotients of fractions, and solve word problems involving division of fractions, e.g., by using visual fraction models and equations to represent the problem. [6NS1] [MA2013] (7) 1: Compute unit rates associated with ratios of fractions, including ratios of lengths, areas, and other quantities measured in like or different units. [7RP1]

Title: A Spooky Math Game: Only Math Will Set You Free
Description:
In this interactive math game, Cleo the Cat has wandered into the mysterious and spooky Fraction Manor. The resident scientist, Dr. Fractionstein, sees this as an opportunity to test his new puzzles. Cleo is trapped inside until the fraction puzzles are solved. The student's job is to use fraction skills to help Cleo escape Fraction Manor. There are several puzzle cards at each level.
Standard(s): [MA2013] (3) 13: Understand a fraction ^{1}/_{b} as the quantity formed by 1 part when a whole is partitioned into b equal parts; understand a fraction ^{a}/_{b} as the quantity formed by a parts and size ^{1}/_{b}. [3NF1] [MA2013] (3) 15: Explain equivalence of fractions in special cases, and compare fractions by reasoning about their size. [3NF3] [MA2013] (4) 13: Compare two fractions with different numerators and different denominators, e.g., by creating common denominators or numerators or by comparing to a benchmark fraction such as ^{1}/_{2}. Recognize that comparisons are valid only when the two fractions refer to the same whole. Record the results of comparisons with symbols >, =, or <, and justify the conclusions, e.g., by using a visual fraction model. [4NF2] [MA2013] (5) 13: Interpret a fraction as division of the numerator by the denominator (^{a}/_{b} = a ÷ b). Solve word problems involving division of whole numbers leading to answers in the form of fractions or mixed numbers, e.g., by using visual fraction models or equations to represent the problem. [5NF3]

Title: Math Makes a Connection: The Fraction Game
Description:
This is an interactive math game for practicing sums of fractions. The game is part of the Connected Math Game Site. Students practice working with relationships among fractions and ways of combining fractions. Students click on a pile of cards to turn one over. This is the target fraction. Students move the markers so that the sum of the moves is a fraction that is less than or equal to the target fraction.
