Who's who in Alabama history?

Overview

In this learning activity, students will choose an Alabamian who made contributions in the fields of science, education, the arts, politics, business, or civil rights and use the BioCube graphic organizer to summarize the information gathered through research.

    Learning Objectives

    Students will able to identify Alabamians who made contributions in the field of science, education, the arts, politics, business, or civil rights during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

    Activity Details

    The students will choose an Alabamian who made a significant contribution to the field of arts, science, politics, business, or civil rights in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and conduct research via the internet to gather information.  Students will use the BioCube planning sheet to organize their information.  Students will then write a biography using the interactive graphic organizer BioCube to organize their thoughts.

    The BioCube interactive on the Alabamian will serve as the assessment tool.

    Variation Tips

    Student should be familiarized with writing a biography.  It is also helpful for students to have some previous knowledge of influential people in Alabama history.
