    Activity Details

This is an introductory activity on comparing and contrasting an informational text.

For the opening activity, the teacher will have students record initial associations on post it notes with the word compare and the word contrast.  Students will be given 2-5 minutes to write silently.

The teacher will then lead a brief discussion about what the students wrote.  Together the class will come up with a definition for compare and for contrast.

The teacher will pull up the power point on Houses and Nests.
