Title: Party Time! Excellent!: Planning a Kid's Birthday Party
In this five-day lesson, students will plan a birthday party for a child (age 5-10 years of age). Each group (based on kitchen groups) will create an on-line invitation, decorate the room, and bake and decorate a cake for the party. At the end of the week, your principal will be begging for an invitation to the best party in town!

Title: Food Safety
[HUM] ED03 (8) 8: Demonstrate the ability to select, store, prepare, and serve nutritious foods.Unit Plan Overview: This unit engages students to recognize the importance of food safety in order to answer the essential question, "What does it mean for our food to be "safe"? Students will identify the forms of food contamination, discuss ways to prevent contamination of food, and demonstrate appropriate responses to a foodborne illness. Students will create a culminating product at the end of the unit to demonstrate their understanding of the question and to provide knowledge and information to the public.

Title: Bacteria Everywhere
[LIT2010] SCI (6-8) 3: Follow precisely a multistep procedure when carrying out experiments, taking measurements, or performing technical tasks.Unit Plan Overview: What is the impact of bacteria? In this unit, students will learn about the 12 most unwanted bacteria, as well as healthy bacteria to advocate for safer handling, preparation, and storage of food. This unit can be taught independently, or as part of a larger unit preparing students for ServSafe Manager credentialing. Students will create a culminating product that aligns with the FCCLA STAR Event, Advocacy.
