Title: Now I Know! A fact-filled presentation.
After teacher instruction the students will work with a partner to identify and use text features (captions, bold print, subheadings, table of contents, etc.) to gather information on a topic. Students will record their information on an information sheet that they will then use to prepare a video presentation using the Educreations app on the iPad. The teacher will assist students in presenting their reports at the interactive board.

Title: Exploring Customs and Cultures- Part 1
Students meet both language arts and social studies objectives in this interdisciplinary unit on customs and cultures. In part 1 of the unit students practice research and writing skills to create a slideshow. In part 2 of the unit students explore culture through games and work with a partner to write a page in a class how-to book.

Title: Play the Dewey Decimal System Game
This lesson introduces the 10 main categories used in the Dewey Decimal Classification System for non-fiction bookshelf arrangement. A slideshow will be presented to students to help them learn details about the Dewey Decimal Classification System. Students will be able to demonstrate what they learn through participating in an interactive game.

Title: Hey Diddle, Diddle! Generating Rhymes for Analogy-Based Phonics Instruction
Students practice matching rhyming words, apply phonological awareness to analogy-based phonics, and use the interactive Construct-a-Word to create rhyming words by adding a beginning consonant to a word ending.

Title: Digging Up Details on Worms: Using the Language of Science in an Inquiry Study
This lesson, in which students research worms in order to create a classroom habitat, incorporates reading and writing across content areas as well as math and science activities.

Title: Rain, Ice, Steam: Using Reading to Support Inquiry About the Water Cycle
Water is always moving in a continuous cycle from liquid to solid to gas and back again. Students study this never-ending cycle through shared readings, center activities, and experiments.

Title: Let's Build a Snowman
In this lesson, students use both fiction and nonfiction texts, the Internet, and a K-W-L chart to learn about how animals survive the winter.
