Overview:

This lesson is the second of a two-part series on the cycle of life. This series should help enhance student understanding of the flow of matter and energy and the interdependence of life by focusing on food chains and food webs. The first lesson in this series on food chains is Cycle of Life 1: Food Chain (http://sciencenetlinks.com/lessons/cycle-of-life-1-food-chain/). This second lesson will help students understand that some insects depend on dead plant material for food and that they interact with other organisms in various ways.
