Smore is a digital flyer creator.  Once a digital flyer is created with Smore, the user can share the flyer with social media sites, email a link or embed the flyer into a webpage.

Learning Objectives:

Students, working in groups, will create a digital how-to Smore that will be shown to classmates for the purpose of re-teaching a recently learned concept.  The digital flyer should include print resources, digital resources and pictures to teach/explain the concept.  

Students will:

  • learn how to create a Smore digital flyer
  • publish a digital product worthy of sharing with an audience
  Strategies, Preparations and Variations  
Phase:
During/Explore/Explain
Activity:

  1. Challenge students to create a how to guide to be shared with the class and classroom website/blog
  2. Introduce Smore.com.  Allow students to review the teacher-created sample 'How to Set-Up Find My iPad' Smore---https://www.smore.com/zn8as-how-to-set-up-find-my-ipad
  3. Have students select a topic from current areas of instructional focus (i.e. how to use commas, how to solve a two-step equation, etc)
  4. Students work in groups (3-4) to complete a Smore
  5. Ask students to share their how-to Smore with the class.
Assessment Strategies:

Determine if students understand their chosen instructional focus by analyzing the digital creations (Smore) and observing the collaboration process within student groups. 

Students will provide a final copy of the how-to Smore and share it with teacher for uploading to classroom website

 


Advanced Preparation:

Teacher will need to ensure that all computers can view 'How To Set-Up Find My iPad' Smore.  Smores are best viewed using Google Chrome.

Variation Tips (optional):

Students could share the product with one other group for peer review, and evaluate the feedback provided to make improvements and/or changes.
