Title: Create a Poster For a Famous Celebrity using Canva
Description:

This learning activity will teach students how to use the technology tool Canva to create a poster instead of the standard tri-fold board.  During this activity, students will be assigned a famous person.  They will research their person's personal statistics (birthdate, career, hometown, famous quote, picture) and design and create a poster using Canva.

This activity was created as a result of the ALEX Resource Development Summit.

Title: Reading Poetry Aloud: Ickle Me, Pickle Me?
Description:

Students will use the poem "Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me Too" from Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein to compare a silent reading of a poem to an animated audio version read by the author. They will compare their thoughts about which experience they enjoyed more and then discuss their conclusions with a seat partner. The teacher will then lead a whole class discussion comparing the two experiences.

Title: Cracking the Secret Code in Media Arts
Description:

Analyzing a commercial for a high-interest product, students will identify the elements and principles of design used to convey the message and ideal of a company through a digital collaborative space. Students will generate many, varied, and unusual ways to communicate their own message, matching the company's ideals, through a different use of elements and principles of design.

This is the third activity in a series of four to meet Media Arts Standard 5.1:

Description:

iBrainstorm is a tool used to help with organization skills, planning, sharing, drawing and remembering important ideas. This tool can be used to help the teacher and the students become more efficient with timing. The tool will be used during lessons to help the teacher and students understand each other. This tool will be used when students have questions for the teacher during group or individual assignments. This allows the teacher to reply to each students questions quickly without having the distraction of students walking around or waiting for the teacher to come to their desk.
