Google Docs Math Problems


The students will be using technology to create a google document( Google Docs) that can be edited by other students and instructors. They will create a document that incorporates multiplication word problems. Students will create word problems for other students to solve by sharing the word problem through a google doc link.

FYI- All students must have a feedly account with all classmates’ blogs.


Step 1- Launch

Teacher will model a Math Word Problem on the board. Teacher will answer the problem incorrectly/ with errors to prompt student responses. Teacher will tell students that it is possible for them to correct the mistake using a Google Docs. 

Step 2- Instruction

  1. Teacher will begin reviewing how to create a document on Google Docs.
  2. Teacher will explain how to share a document that can be edited.
  1. Teacher will ask students to practice creating multiplication basic facts on Google docs that can be edited.  Teacher will ask students to upload basic facts to their Google Docs.
  2. Teacher will then select students to share their link with the class.
  3. Teacher will open link on the board and demonstrate how to edit other Google Docs.



FYI- All students must have a feedly account with all classmates’ blogs.

Step 3- Independent

Students will partner with a tablemate and edit each other’s basic fact Google Docs link


Assessment Strategies

  • Students will then create three word problems for classmates to edit.   Students must upload their Google doc link to their WordPress blog.

  • Upon completion, students will select a classmates Google Doc word problem assignment by opening their blog and clicking the link to the Google Doc.

Students may need additional support to solve word problems during intervention.
