Growing Up During World War II
This is a whole group inquiry lesson that is largely, but not entirely, technology-based. Through the use of a PhotoStory-created movie, students will learn about several basic concepts related to life in Alabama during World War II. More specifically, aspects of life that affected children growing up during this time will be discussed.

On the Home Front
In this unit of four EDSITEment lessons, students investigate how non-combatants contributed to the war effort during World War II and are then invited to reflect on how young people can contribute to the solution of contemporary national problems. Students also investigate how posters were used to encourage home front efforts during World War II.
The 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution gave women the right to vote in 1920.
A representative from the local chapter of the League of Women Voters is invited to talk to students about voting rights and what they can do to be active in politics.
Susan B. Anthony voted on this date in 1872, leading to her arrest.
After assigning special privileges to an arbitrarily designated group, students write about how they felt during the simulation and consider what they might be willing to do to change an unjust law.
