Let's Throw Paper!! Addition Game
Students will throw addition problems or answers (on paper) across the classroom and find the matching problem or answer! Students will use mental math to compute the matching answer. Students will quietly walk around the classroom to find the person with the matching paper. Let’s throw math around! This is a College- and Career-Ready Standards showcase lesson plan.

After watching the video clip of the Hershey's plant, students will use grid paper to investigate multiplication as repeated addition. This lesson plan was created by exemplary Alabama Math Teachers through the AMSTI project.

100 More Hungry Ants
Students will investigate what happens to the number of ants at a picinc when 100 more ants arrive at the picnic. They will explore this concept using a slide presentation followed by a partner game. This lesson plan was created by exemplary Alabama Math Teachers through the AMSTI project.

Multiplication Facts, Facts, Facts and Some Reese's Pieces for Snack!!
This lesson teaches the basic math multiplication facts in a fun way so that students will want to remember them. Knowledge of all multiplication facts will help with learning subsequent skills in longer multiplication, division, fractions, etc.

During this lesson students will have the opportunity to use real coins to purchase items in a class department store. Students will work to determine which coins they need to purchase an object. They will also practice counting skills on the Internet before the big shopping day.

In this lesson students will practice adding, subtracting, and multiplying without regrouping using a hundred blocks board. Students will be given opportunities to identify and discuss different patterns that they discover and relate number patterns to visual patterns.
